2.1.3: Storytelling

1. In groups, devise a short story called 'What I Did Last Night'. Write it as a series of 4-8 bullet points.

What I Did Last Night

- When I woke up at around 11 and had my breakfast.
- Then I did some household chores.
- After that, I got in the bath
- After I was dressed, I decided to go to West End With 3 friends.
- I came home at 10:30 and watched Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
- Later on that evening, I got tired and went to bed.

2 How would your story change if:

a. it was set 50 years ago
If my story was set 50years ago then I might have still went to west end to go shopping and would have still probably done household chores. However I wouldn't have watched 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians' because the programme didn't exist yet.

b. it was set in a third-world country
If it was set in a third-world country then I would have still done chores but most likely wouldn't have gone shopping because there are scarce shopping centres and maybe would have gone out to work instead. I also wouldn't have watched TV because its likely that I wouldn't have one.

c. it was set in a world with no TV or Internet.
If it was set in a world with no TV or Internet then the only thing that would have changed is me watching TV.

3 Go on to discuss how the following factors affect our everyday lives:

a. technology
In the world today, we all depend on technology in order to do things and simply for entertainment. We use technology like computers and internet to socialise and we use technology to learn and in workplaces.

b. social or cultural factors
Social and cultural factors affect our lives quite a lot as there are lots of different types of cultures which have different beliefs that have to be followed. Therefore people's lives are shaped around these beliefs.

c. economics (money).
Money is also a factor that has been made a priority today so nowadays we need money for most things. E.G. food
shelter etc.
So now we use money a lot more, even for entertainment.
