WEEK 1 : What is Mime | -During this week, we were introduced to the mime topic as a whole and did various pieces of research on the history of mime and how it has changed over time. -It was actually my idea to use mime as our stimuli piece for performance. - I learnt about the history of mime and the origin of it and developed my understanding of the types of mime. - By doing this, I feel like I developed my research skills. |
WEEK 2: Watching Mime Performances | - We watched various mime performances, both modern and older, and looked at the skills and aspects which they used in order to make the things being mimed seem that they were actually there. We looked at some of Charlie Chaplin’s old work, some work from a couple of mimes which made a video in their spare time and a video of a man re-enacting 9/11. - I made some suggestions on what videos we should watch. - I learnt how different mimes approach the way of portraying an object that isn’t seen. - I think I recognised the way that I will attempt approaching mime and the way to make it seem real. |
WEEK 3: The Elements of Mime | - We looked at mime in depth and started creating our Power Point presentation with the information about the history of mime. - I researched in more depth about mime. - I learnt a lot about the beginnings of mime and how it has developed. - I think that by doing this, I’ve developed my researching skills. |
WEEK 4: Who is Our Audience? What do they want? | - We tried to identify who our audience was going to be which would then help us to shape our mime performance around it. - I helped to come to the decision of our final audience group (10-50year olds). - I learnt that it is best that you decide on the target audience before you begin creating the performance. - I developed the skills to identify the target audience of a performance and to work around that. |
WEEK 5: Ideas for Paired Performance | - This week we decided on having a paired performance as well as a group one to add to the overall mime piece. So we got into pairs and brainstormed ideas on what each paired performance could be about. - I thought of some of the ideas that we could use for the paired performance. - I developed my miming skills and how I can portray my character and a scene. |
WEEK 6: Ideas for Group performance | - This week we began brainstorming about how we can show our given stimuli (fan and fanatic) and identify the individual characters. - I thought of many different ideas and ways that we can do this and we weighed up all of our ideas. - I learnt how to compromise ideas in order to create a successful show. - I developed my team-working skills. |
WEEK 6: Storyboarding | - Once we had deciding on our chosen scene, we started to put it in a storyboard form in order to make it easier to remember and expand on. - I created my own storyboard. - I learnt how to storyboard our ideas. |
WEEK 7: Organising Rehearsals and Props and Equipment | - We all debated on the days for rehearsals and discussed the props and equipment needed. - I helped come to the decision of the days when we should hold our rehearsals and some of the decisions towards equipment. - I learnt that when making decisions like these, you need to all be able to compromise as everyone has different schedules. |
WEEK 7: Choreography | - This week we dedicated it to choreography, so that we can get everything on point and perfect - As I am the choreographer, I had to come up with the dances and teach it to the rest of the cast. - I learnt that you have to be patient when teaching as people work at different levels and speeds. - I perfected the skill on teaching people choreography effectively. |
WEEK 8: Rehearsal | - This week we did hardcore rehearsals on the scenes, both group and partners. - I rehearsed my group scene and my partner scene. - I learnt that it takes a lot of rehearsals before you get something right. - I developed my miming skills. |
WEEK 9 : Rehearsal & Production Meeting | - Again, this week we rehearsed our scenes and verified certain issues. - I took part in the rehearsals and the production meetings. - I learnt that its important to attend all rehearsals. |
WEEK 10: Campaign/ Promotion Plan | - We went over the promotion plan. - As part of the promotion team, we went over way in which to promote the performance creatively. - I learnt the different types of ways to promote. - I developed my promoting skills. |
WEEK 11: Rehearsal – Visit from Professional Mime Artist | - We had more rehearsals and had a visit from a Professional Mime Artist. - I took part in rehearsals and the training sessions with the mime artist. - I learnt the techniques in which to perform mime. |
WEEK 12: Dress and Technical Rehearsals | - We did our final rehearsals in costume and with sound effects. - I took part in the rehearsals. - I learnt that you have to be patient when doing a tech rehearsal in order to get everything right. - I developed my patience by doing this type of rehearsal. |
WEEK 13: Performance | - This week we performed the performance that we had rehearsed for. - I performed and fulfilled my backstage responsibilities. - I learnt how to remain in character when performing. - I developed my performing skills and my miming skills. |
