2.3: Refining Ideas

In the planning process of the performance, a lot of slight changes and alterations had to be made in order to make it as interesting as possible and a successful performance.
- Straight away, the first change that had to be done was the designated rehearsal days as it proved that the days were not appropriate as not many people would turn up to them which led to not much getting done. So to resolve this, we all went through our timetables and checked the days when we were free so that we could all attend and get the most out of rehearsals.
- When creating our paired scenes, we thought of doing a scene where we were two friends who disagreed on a situation and then fell out. But the thing with this scenario is that it would be very hard to portray a clear story of what's happening through mime, so we decided to change it to us digging in a graveyard and burying a body as this is a very physical and would be much clearer for the audience to understand what's going on.
- Another thing that was altered is our group scene. At the beginning, there was only Sabrina and I in the group. However, another two people, Siddiquea and Shapla, had to join our group as they weren't there when the roles were being allocated. Sabrina and I had already started creating the scenes for it so we had to slot Siddiquea and Shapla into them and slightly alter certain aspects.
- When making the opening and closing scenes, a lot was changed as Sir didn't think something was quite right. So we weighed up each ideas and produced a whole new one, which I feel was successful.
- We had to shorten our group mime performance, as it was becoming too long and was exceeding the time limit. Therefore we had to cut certain parts of it out and adapt to doing it all in a shorter time.
- For the promotion plan, we intended to do a flash mob in order to entice our audience to want to find out what it was all about. As time was tight, we decided it was best if we left this idea for something else as we didn't have enough spare time to do it and the planning of a performance is hard and time consuming as it is!
